Become a Trustee

About the opportunity

Cyril Flint Befrienders is seeking to recruit 3 or more committed and enthusiastic people to further strengthen our Board of Trustees and help us achieve the next phase of our planned development.

The Trustees are responsible for the good governance and financial management of the Charity, and for ensuring that its core purpose of helping to combat loneliness and isolation in older people, and the harmful impact this has, is carried out.  We are working to reduce isolation and loneliness via our one to one befriending service; recruiting and training volunteers form the local community and matching them with local older people, helping communities to come together to solve this growing issue.

If you care about older people and have relevant experience at a strategic level, then we would love to hear from you.  We are looking for professional knowledge, experience and skills in one or more of the following areas:

* Fundraising

* Business/commercial

* Retail

* Governance and legal

* Health and social care at strategic level

* Commissioning

NB: This is a voluntary role and reasonable expenses will be paid.

Time commitment

Bi-monthly 1-2 hour meetings held in Didsbury, during working hours.

In addition to this you will be expected to spend approximately 1-2 hours per month to attend and/or assist at events, representing the charity and raising awareness about the work we are doing in the local community.

Some Board members also participate in the work of our fundraising sub-committee, which requires a further 1-2 hours per quarter.

How to apply

If you would like to apply, please contact Alex Neil, Operations Manager, for a copy of our short application form, or call 0161 942 9465 to discuss the role further.
