***Apologies we are currently not accepting new referrals unless part of a specific project as we have 140 people currently on our waiting list and we are committed to helping these people before taking on new service users.***

BEFRIENDING REFERRALS FROM 3RD PARTY AGENCIES

PLEASE NOTE WE ARE CURRENTLY ONLY OPPERATING IN TRAFFORD AND ACCEPTING REFFERALS FOR PEOPLE AGED 60+

Our befriending service is aimed at combatting loneliness and social isolation amongst the elderly.  It is important that you have a persons consent and that people are only referred to the Befriending Service once they are aware of what befriending entails and personally feel that it would benefit them. It has to be a person’s choice to be in a befriending relationship. Gaining appropriate referrals can avoid unnecessary work for the Charity and rejection for the potential befriendee, and increase the chances of befriending working.

Our volunteer befrienders are trained to act within the boundaries of their unique role.

Please do not consider them as possible replacements for domiciliary or professional services such as: caring; one off sitting service; home help; shopping; transportation; support work; mental health advocacy; counselling and advice etc.

The referral system operates only in terms of making initial contact. Once a referral is received the person will be contacted directly. We actively encourage Referrers being present at the initial introductory meeting with Client and Cyril Flint Co-ordinator if possible. Due to the high volume of referrals and limited staff resource we are not able to provide updates on a befriending referral/relationship unless contacted specifically by the referral agency. However where the referral agency maintains contact with the befriendee, and may be aware of changes in their circumstances, we ask that they let us know of any relevant changes that may have an impact on the befriender’s activities.

Please check our page on what our Volunteers don’t do before completing the form below.

Please note: We operate in Trafford.  Please only complete a referral for someone if they are aged 60+ AND  live in one of these geographical areas.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REFER SOMEONE
